Ron Arad (b. 1951) is an industrial
designer, artist and architect. He attended the Jerusalem
Academy of Art between 1971-73 and the Architectural Association
in London from 1974-79. Ron Arad designs all types of objects,
mainly car tyres and cars themselves but he also designs
electronic devices such as phones and computers. He uses only
one material in this process, rubber & occassionally aluminum.
When people see his design, in an interview, Arad said that he
wanted people to think of Tel Aviv, Israel, the country of his
birth. His design style is extremely simple, he writes down all
his ideas, then combines them and turns it into one design.
He was Head of Design Products Department at the Royal College of Art until 2007.
